October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Marsy’s Law for Nevada is urging Nevadans to GO PURPLE in support of domestic violence victims and survivors, everywhere. In 2024, according to statistics compiled by the Nevada Department of Public Safety, law enforcement statewide investigated 27,897 cases of Domestic and Elder Violence, in which 14,864 children were present at the scene, and 4,378 of the survivors needed medical attention. NATIONWIDE
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, on average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the US. Annually, this totals more than 10 million people.
One in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, sexual violence, and/or intimate partner stalking.
